Factors that will help Lionel Messi in winning the FIFA 2018 World Cup
Factors that will help Lionel Messi in winning the FIFA 2018 World Cup:
- His form last season:
Lionel Messi has always been a massive player for Barcelona but it is safe to say his form last season played a huge part in helping the Catalans win the La liga. Messi scored an incredible 44 goals for the Spanish giants and assisted in 14 others to help win both the La Liga and the Copa Del Rey. He needs to carry the same form in the World Cup and in spite missing a penalty against Iceland(200/1 to win the World Cup),Messi is expected to carry his good form for the rest of the tournament.
- Help from his teammates:
Argentina has a deadly attacking squad with a lot of experience and talented players available. Lionel Messi can very well benefit with the likes of some experienced and seasoned players like Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain, Ever Banega and Angel Di Maria. Not only them, the likes of Paulo Dybala, Nicolas Otamendi and Javier Mascherano can also play an important part in helping Argentina have a productive time on the pitch. Football has always been a team game accompanied by individual brilliances and if Argentina are to be successful, Messi will need his teammates to step up.
- Backing of the Argentina fans:
It is safe to say that Lionel Messi hasn’t had the best of relationships with the Argentine fans. With the accolades Messi has earned in his career, he has always been the scapegoat when Argentina (11/1 to win the World Cup)fail to succeed in a tournament. This has affected Messi and to make sure that the Barcelona forward is at his best, the Argentine fans need to back him to their fullest.
- Jorge Sampaoli’s tactical brilliance:
Sampaoli has been known for his tactical achievements with both Sevilla and Chile. Argentina have been victims to mundane tactics and probably it is one of the reasons why they failed to win the 2014 World Cup final even after dominating the game. With Sampaoli, Argentina can be innovative and different whenever required and it is him who will have to make the difference from the sidelines using all his knowledge and tactical abilities.
- Some good luck:
Argentina have been quite unlucky in the past few years as they have returned home empty handed in spite of having played four finals recently. Messi would have been devastated by the fact that he could have won four trophies but ended up winning nothing but criticism. It is for sure that he will give his everything but along with that he will require some luck and prayers to help Argentina cross the finishing line this time.
